Help us plant trees and shrubs.

April 13, 2013  noon to 4 pm.  (Rain date April 14, noon to 4 pm.)
Wear heavy shoes or boots, garden gloves if you have them, and if you have a shovel you want to bring for your own use, that would be a big help.  Free sandwiches and beverages for all volunteers.  Contact us at <blueflagrefuge@gmail.com> to register.

This event was a resounding success.  More than two dozen volunteers showed up to help plant more than 30 young trees and shrubs on the refuge.  Trees that were planted included two witch hazel, one American snowbell, one magnolia, one choke cherry, three river birch, and four serviceberry  trees.  We also planted four native roses, two junipers, three red chokeberry, two blueberry, five Kiowa blackberry, two bayberry, and two viburnum bushes.
